The Booth Writers’ Guild (BWG) offers educational opportunities related to the art of writing – fiction, nonfiction, poetry, or song. BWG is comprised of people who are passionate about writing the West and it is their intention to bring together professional writers, and those who aspire to be, and to share ideas. BWG hosts quarterly meetings and webinars featuring nationally known speakers including agents, publishers, and fellow writers, who share their experiences and allow members to access exclusive resources. Published BWG members also have the opportunity to display and sell their works in the Candace Alexander McNair Museum Store and the Downtown Gallery.
A Community of writers and readers
We’re a small but eclectic community of writers and readers connected through the Booth Western Art Museum, located in Cartersville, Georgia.
Membership in the Guild is open to members of the Booth Western Art Museum, and we encourage all writers and literary enthusiasts to consider joining the Museum to become part of our vibrant, creative network.
Members of All Levels
Whether you’re a published author, an aspiring writer, or a devoted reader, we invite you to connect with us here—and, if possible, to visit the Booth Museum in person. You’ll find inspiration in every corner of this world-class institution in the heart of Georgia.
Not Just About Horses…
Not just about horses, lonely nights around the campfire, or moving cattle across the plains (though we do enjoy a good cattle drive scene now and then).
We welcome writers of all genres—mystery, memoir, fantasy, romance, sci-fi, poetry, and yes… even westerns.
Whether your story takes place in a spaceship, a haunted lighthouse, or a suburban PTA meeting gone wrong—we’ve got a seat for you at the table (no branding iron required).

BWG Herd Boss: Elizabeth Woolsey
An acclaimed equine veterinarian and writer, Elizabeth’s books—spanning memoir, historical narrative, and fiction—blend her career’s rich stories with a love for Western adventure. Known for her Travels of Dr. Rebecca Harper series, she brings veterinary insight and authenticity to Western fiction, making her a beloved voice in the genre.
BWG Point Rider: T.W. Lawrence
He writes what he loves, and he loves Texas. T.W.’s short stories, novels, and now screenplays are about his Texas upbringing. The fictive nature of these tales is meant to show how he sees the Lone Star State -past and present- from his vantage point in south Texas. There is a little of him in each of the characters and he strives to put the readers into those various places in a real way.
